A BBC weatherman made a sexual innuendo about his ‘equipment’ on live air, leaving one of his colleagues in stitches.
Since the 1990s, Paul Hudson has worked for the national broadcaster, where he delivers the weather for the Look North programme.
He’s become known for his on-air banter with hosts Harry Gration and Peter Levy over the years, the latter of whom was caught aback by their latest on-air encounter this week.
On Thursday, Peter informed the audience during a cross that Paul was experiencing technological issues and checked in to see whether everything had been fixed.
‘At lunchtime his equipment wasn’t working,’ he explained.
‘Is it repaired?’ he then asked his colleague.
Paul reacted with a witty remark without missing a beat.
‘Well, I think you’ll find my 10-week-old daughter proves there’s nothing wrong with my equipment,’ the 52-year-old quipped.
Clearly caught aback, Peter could be heard screaming ‘oh’ before leaning forward and giggling with his hands over his face.
Standing there casually, as if nothing out of the ordinary had occurred, Paul grinned and simply remarked, ‘Well, you asked.’
Attempting to move on while still laughing, Peter then said it was time for the weather forecast, before adding: ‘I seriously need danger money for doing this programme.’
After humorously apologising, Paul returned to his work and began presenting the region’s weather prediction.
Viewers couldn’t get enough of the funny encounter, with many stating they looked forward to seeing the couple interact on a daily basis.
‘Both are legends,’ one person posted on X, formerly Twitter.
‘These two are an underrated double act,’ someone else shared.
Another added: ‘Paul the weatherman is a legend of my childhood.’
Meanwhile another person pointed out how ‘the local news programmes have given us some gems this year’.
Paul, who is also the BBC’s Climate Correspondent, welcomed his third daughter back in August.
At the time he shared a photo of the newborn on Instagram and wrote: ‘Thank you so much for all your kind messages, back home now with my third daughter Anya, who is currently checking out her nursery in a weather themed baby grow! I feel very, very lucky and fortunate to be a Dad again.’
