Mathew Shea took aim at Captain Sandy Yawn in the heated Below Deck Mediterranean season six reunion, taking aim at her attitude.

The chef didn’t have the best time of it on the most recent Med series, and stormed off the boat in explosive scenes, before returning the next morning.

The tension appeared to calm down by the finale, with the cast choosing to get a place together in Croatia after filming – leading to many wondering what exactly happened in Split.

However, things appeared to be fractured at the reunion when host Andy Cohen asked if anyone would work with the foodie again, with everyone except the Captain raising their hands.

‘I like reliability and dependability,’ she replied when pushed on her reasoning. ‘Mathew’s a great guy but after watching the show, people who poke the bear… it’s a little hard.

‘With everything that happened, I don’t see everything so when I watched the show, I was actually mortified.’

Hitting back at her comments, the chef said: ‘I did everything I did, I regret the bad moments I had but I think I’m a good employee.

‘I think Sandy’s one of the worst captains I’ve ever worked with in my 15 years on boats.’

Leaping to her defence, stewardess Courtney Veale added: ‘I think that’s slightly too far Mathew. The issue was that Captain Sandy has now seen everything that happened on the nights out.

‘The unreliability, I understand from a Captain’s point of view, it’s hard to employ somebody when they’re unreliable and they quit.

‘In that respect I agree, it must be hard for her to think she would employ you again if you’re going to quit.’

Someone else who wasn’t too impressed with Mathew’s antics was veteran Below Deck chef Ben Robinson, who said he was worthy of being sacked at some points.

‘I think he fired himself,’ he told Us Weekly in a candid chat. ‘I don’t think people actually get fired. I think people fire themselves, and I think he was worthy of having fired himself a couple of times.

‘Sandy, you know, she’s being a very diplomatic boss. She’s really trying with him, and I really hope it works out. It’s an interesting manager managerial skill.

‘She’s very zen and she’s got obviously a very big heart … but personally, I probably would have let him go.’

Below Deck Mediterranean is available to stream on hayu.
