Ben Shephard accidentally blurted out ‘nipples’ instead of ‘nostrils’ while commenting on Susanna Reid’s outfit on today’s episode of Good Morning Britain in a Freudian slip of epic proportions.
The presenter was remarking on his co-host’s dress as his face had been superimposed onto the green number when he accidentally made the blunder.
‘The trouble is when you work in television, things can be projected onto green,’ Susanna said before the crew quickly projected Ben’s face onto her garment.
‘It’s called chroma key,’ Ben explained as viewers got to see pictures of him beamed onto her. ‘Susanna is wrapped in the warmth of a Ben blanket.’
‘I quite like that,’ Susanna commented.
Ben then suddenly announced: ‘My nipples are…’

An awkward silence filled the studio as a puzzled and shocked Susanna echoed the voice of the nation and asked: ‘What?’
‘My nipples?’ Ben continued, clearly also perplexed by his own outburst.
By this point, the whole studio was in hysterics and Dr Hilary Jones chimed in: ‘There’s some anatomy revision going on this morning.’

‘Did your inner thoughts come out on national television to millions?’ Susanna probed.
Dr Hilary commented: ‘Think it’s called a Freudian slip.’
Explaining his blunder, Ben insisted he meant to say nostrils.
‘They are very easily confused,’ he added.
Oh the joys of live television, hey Ben?
