Big Bang Theory alum Kunal Nayyar has landed himself a Bafta TV 2021 nomination ahead of this year’s ceremony.
The full list of nominations was announced on Wednesday morning, with Steve McQueen’s Small Axe dominating with a staggering 15 nods, while Michaela Coel’s I May Destroy You was also recognised.
Kunal is also among the names and is up for the award for best supporting actor for his role in the Netflix series Criminal, a stand-alone psychological drama consisting of police interrogations.
The 39-year-old actor is up against Small Axe stars Malachi Kirby and Michael Ward, Quiz’s Michael Sheen, The Crown’s Tobias Menzies and Adult Materials’ Rupert Everett for the gong.
Celebrating the news on Instagram, Kunal wrote: ‘What a nice way to wake up this morning. Thank you @bafta and @netflix #criminaluk.’
A number of his showbiz pals congratulated Kunal, including his former Big Bang Theory co-star Kaley Cuoco, who wrote: ‘Yayyyyyy!’

Elsewhere on this year’s Bafta TV nominations list, Netflix’s royal drama series The Crown has received a total of 10 nods – four TV nominations and six in the craft categories.
Actor Josh O’Connor is nominated for his role as the Prince of Wales in the Netflix series, with his co-stars Helena Bonham Carter and Tobias Menzies also nominated.
Helena is nominated for her portrayal of Princess Margaret and Tobias for his role as the Duke of Edinburgh.
The Virgin Media British Academy Television Awards ceremony takes place on Sunday 6 June on BBC One and BBC One HD, and the British Academy Television Craft Awards will be streamed on BAFTA’s social channels on Monday 24 May.
