Nikki Grahame’s ex-boyfriend Pete Bennett wrote to Kate Bush, pleading with the singer to give the Big Brother legend a ‘pep talk’ before her death.
Nikki died after a lifelong battle with anorexia on Friday April 9 just weeks after her friends and family launched a GoFundMe page to raise money for the 38-year-old to receive specialist treatment.
However, Nikki never made it to the eating disorder unit and was discharged from hospital 24 hours before her death.
Pete, who sparked a romance with Nikki during their time in the Big Brother house in 2006, was still visibly shaken as he discussed their 15 year bond on Good Morning Britain today, with host Kate Garraway pausing the interview as he was overcome with emotion.
After revealing he got straight into a taxi and rushed to see Nikki before she died, Pete said he wrote to her idol with hopes to give the star a boost.
‘Maybe I was wrong but I just thought she needed some good friends and hey, I even wrote to Kate Bush,’ he told Kate and her co-host Adil Ray.

Pete and Nikki’s romance blossomed on Big Brother
‘I wrote, “Hey Kate Bush, do you fancy giving Nikki Grahame a pep talk, send her a little video message because she’s a massive fan?”’
Kate assured: ‘You tried everything you could.’
Nikki’s death has triggered an outpouring of grief from friends, family, fans and fellow Big Brother stars.
Host Davina McCall said she couldn’t ‘find the words’ as she paid tribute to the Big Brother icon, while Big Brother Canada opened the latest episode with a special message dedicated to Nikki.
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
