Boots Christmas advert 2021: Jenna Coleman teams up with Oscar-winning director to ‘save Christmas’ in tear-jerking campaign

Jenna Coleman is the star of this year’s Boots Christmas advert campaign, which launches the same day as John Lewis unveiled its rival trailer too.

We’ve finally reached November, meaning it is only a matter of time before the C word becomes completely unavoidable.

All the biggest retailers are launching their adverts in the coming days, with Boots being the latest to reveal what it has in store for the festive season.

The chemist has pulled it out the bag this year, making Doctor Who’s Jenna the star of the show.

Academy Award winner, and director of The King’s Speech, Tom Hooper is helping to lift the nation’s spirits by putting together the cute film which features Bafta-winner Jenna.

Jenna stars as Joy, a woman who saves Christmas with her bag full of treats, delivering the perfect gifts to her friends and family.

In the short film, she receives a note from her nan alongside a very special bag, which reads: ‘This is what Christmas feels like.’

Joy suddenly realises her bag contains a stash of perfume, beauty goodies and more Boots products. Jealous? Us too.

Other gifts include a cosy hat and scarf set during a snowy spin on a Waltzer and even false eyelashes to give a snowman a fetching new look.

‘I love Christmas and I’ve always loved Christmas films,’ enthused Jenna. ‘Working on Bags of Joy with Tom, and the beautiful imagination he brought, creating this magical little film felt really special.

‘Celebrating family, togetherness and the simple joy of giving mixed with a healthy dose of festive magic and charm felt so poignant this year.’

She added: ‘I hope people enjoy watching it as much as we did making it.’

The ‘Bags of Joy’ advert will premiere on Saturday, November 6 during the Jonathan Ross Show on ITV.
