Boris Johnson was filmed swiftly avoiding speaking to Good Morning Britain on camera on Tuesday, after over four years of not going on the show.
The Prime Minister, 57, was at the Conservative Party conference in Manchester where Good Morning Britain attempted to end his 1,563-day boycott of appearing on the programme, to no avail.
Ranvir Singh, who was on location, revealed that they had spotted Mr Johnson at the conference but he had quickly walked away from the cameras.
She told Susanna Reid and Alastair Campbell: ‘You know he does a lot of running, don’t you, and we saw him the other day in a shirt – I mean who runs in a shirt?
‘I imagine he’s preparing for walking through a conference centre when he’s trying to avoid cameras because he was doing an excellent speed-walk, sort of an Olympic-style speed-walk.’
In the clip, Mr Johnson could be seen walking with a group of staff through the hall and out through a large door into the reception area as Ranvir called after him: ‘Prime Minister, Good Morning Britain would like to have you on the show. 1500 days it has been, Prime Minister, since you have been on the show.’
She added that he was doing interviews with rival outlets, telling the hosts: ‘Nothing for Good Morning Britain apart from a little wave this morning.’
Alastair joked that the Prime Minister had walked into a ‘black fridge’ after Mr Johnson appeared to hide in a refrigerator to avoid an interview with Susanna and Piers Morgan on Good Morning Britain in 2019.
Mr Johnson had been door-stopped live on Good Morning Britain by news reporter Jonathan Swain and his camera crew as he helped load a van with bottles of milk in preparation of its delivery in West Yorkshire.
He had been invited to honour his word and answer some of Piers and Susanna’s questions but rather than joining the show, had hid inside a fridge adding that ‘he’d be with them in a second.’
It doesn’t look like the PM is planning on making that GMB appearance anytime soon…
