Bradley Walsh reveals how he lost a stone and a half after being warned heart was ‘ticking time bomb’

Bradley Walsh has lost more than a stone-and-a-half after returning to his love of boxing.

The Chase host and Doctor Who star was warned by doctors earlier this year that he needed to get healthier as he was a ‘ticking time bomb’ for heart disease.

So with that, he followed the doctor’s orders, and couldn’t be happier with the result.

Appearing on tomorrow night’s Jonathan Ross Christmas Show with son Barney, Bradley shares his progress, weight loss tips and exercise regime with the rest of the guests.

Speaking alongside Michelle Keegan, Sir Mo Farah, Emily Atack and Kevin Bridges, Bradley declares that his time spent in the boxing ring has helped him become more fit.

‘I’m back boxing training now. Full time,’ he tells them. ‘I’ve done about a stone and a half in weight.’

Bradley isn’t the only one who’s been making the most of his time in lockdown, with Scottish comedian Kevin also stating that he’s been trying to keep active.

‘I got the 5K done,’ he said of his running. ‘I thought, I’m going to keep going. I thought I’d done maybe four times that – I looked at the watch, it was about 8K…

‘I’ve lost a bit [of weight], put a bit on.. I’m still in profit. From my heaviest to my lightest was about three stone. I’ve spent a stone. So I’ve still got two stone in the bank.’

Speaking previously about his health, Bradley admitted that he was beginning to focus more on being healthy after turning 60 in June.

He told the Sun on Sunday: ‘I was a time bomb. I was quite lucky in regards to the calcium test but my doctor said I produce too much cholesterol. It’s a silent killer.

‘I thought, “Oh crikey, I’m gonna be bang in trouble here if I don’t lose the weight and start dealing with this”. I decided to get consciously stuck in. So, touch wood, I will be okay.’

The Jonathan Ross Christmas Show airs Christmas Eve at 10pm on ITV.
