Breaking Bad fans, it’s time to get excited as Walter White and Jesse Pinkman are officially back.
Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul are set to reprise their iconic roles in spin-off series Better Call Saul, making an appearance in the sixth and final season.
Co-creator Peter Gould confirmed the news at PaleyFest LA, but stopped short of spilling the beans on when they will be written in and in what context.
‘I don’t want to spoil things for the audience, but I will say the first question we had when we started the show was, “Are we gonna see Walt and Jesse on the show?” Instead of evading, I’ll just say yeah,’ he said during an appearance at a panel.
‘How or the circumstances or anything, you’ll just have to discover that for yourself, but I have to say that’s one of many things that I think you’ll discover this season,’ he added via Variety.
Speaking earlier this week, Bob Odenkirk, aka Saul Goodman, told the outlet: ‘I personally feel that the two shows – Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul – are entwined even more than ever in the final season.
‘And I think that’s surprising and cool, and it’s gonna make you want to watch Breaking Bad again.’
Not that we need an excuse, obviously.
The official Better Call Saul Twitter account whipped us all into a frenzy over the return, sharing a photo of Jesse and Walt in a car, with the message: ‘They’re coming back. #BetterCallSaul.’
While some were gutted that they had been given a huge ‘spoiler’ about their favourite show, others were delighted by the return.
Quoting the post, one said: ‘Well, that’s my year made!’
‘This Better Call Saul season gon truly be the greatest thing ever…. [sic],’ another agreed.
A follower enthused: ‘Awww yeah! The moment us Breaking Bad fans have been waiting for! The timelines have finally caught up…Bring it on!’
‘Oh this season gonna be spectacular,’ a Twitter user replied.
As a fan added: ‘Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould really gonna bring this story full circle and words can’t described how excited I am to experience it.’
Bryan and Aaron played Walter and Jesse respectively in the acclaimed drama, which ran for five seasons from 2008 until 2013.
They also appeared in 2019’s El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie, which picked up exactly after the finale.
Bob reprised his role as sleazy lawyer Saul for a hugely popular prequel, with part one of the final series landing on Netflix this month.
Better Call Saul is available to stream on Netflix now, with new episodes releasing on April 18.
