Bridgerton’s Daphne and the Duke beat 10 Things I Hate About You’s Kat and Patrick to be voted best ‘fake romance’ couple of all time

The results are in and Bridgerton fans will be delighted to know that Daphne and Simon Basset have been named the best couple with a fake romance that turned into real love.

Yep, the Regency-era lovebirds officially have the most incomparable journey to happily ever after, which makes sense considering Netflix viewers just can’t get enough of the show.

They faced some stiff competition, but managed to reign supreme with 22% of the vote in a Metro.co.uk poll, while 10 Things I Hate About You couple Kat Stratford and Patrick Verona got 21%.

But who else did they beat to bag the title?

Joint last – What Happens In Vegas couple Jack Fuller, Jr. and Joy McNally, Drive Me Crazy couple Nicole Maris and Chase Hammond, Can’t Buy My Love couple Ronald Miller and Cindy Mancini, Picture Perfect couple Kate Mosley and Nick, and Failure To Launch couple Tripp and Paula

All these rom-com couples have received a lot of love over the years but they just couldn’t compete in this poll.

Gentle reader, we could write a whole collection of essays about the way Phoebe Dynevor and Regé-John Page’s characters touched hearts after the show was released on Christmas Day 2020.

Their relationship might have started out as a way to try and solve other issues, but the pair’s connection became something so beautiful that viewers have become nothing short of obsessed with the couple.

Plus, that honeymoon montage was also going to make them hard to beat because it is safe to say the Duke and Duchess’ love definitely had a whole lot of passion.

Lady Whistledown would be proud.
