Britney Spears’ friend accuses dad Jamie of ‘being worried’ for his cut of singer’s money

Britney Spears’ friend has slammed the singer’s father Jamie as she accused him of just being worried about how much money he would get from his daughter.

Appearing via video link on Thursday’s This Morning, Kim Kaiman, who has known the pop star since she was 14, gave her views on the new documentary Framing Britney Spears.

The programme, which has been released in the US, gives an insight into the 39-year-old’s controversial conservatorship with Jamie Spears and how her assets have been under the control of her dad since 2008.

Jamie was able to take conservatorship after Britney was put on a 5150 involuntary psychiatric hold and had visitation rights to her children Sean and Jayden suspended.

Under the arrangement, Jamie and a lawyer have the legal right to oversee and make decisions regarding her finances, health, business deals, and personal life.

Phillip began by quoting something Jamie allegedly told Kim, who was Britney’s music executive for six years, he said: ‘”My daughter is going to be so rich, she’s going to buy me a boat”.

‘You can take that either way, can’t you,’ he added. ‘That can be hope, a dream for the family or it can be a little bit “Right, we’re all in this to get out as much of it as we possibly can if she becomes mentally stable the maybe she’s going to fritter that all away, so this has to be locked in”.

‘What’s your view of that?’

‘When he said that, this was Britney’s first headline tour,’ Kim replied.

‘This was many years ago and it was a long way away from not only her not having a family or being hounded by the paparazzi, she was just starting really to become famous.

‘The way it was said to me, was not in a supportive way.’

‘It wasn’t in a “Wow this is going to be such a wonderful ride and we’re all going to be able to be happily ever after”,’ she added.

‘That is not the tone in which it was said to me. I can’t say it was a positive thing that he said. It was not a positive thing.

‘Quite frankly, he wasn’t involved in the building of her career so to have this man say something like that just to me, just said: “You’re just worried about how much money you’re going to have to spend and how much she is going to give you”.’

Phillip went on to ask Kim about Britney’s boyfriend Sam, who hit out at Jamie yesterday, accusing him of ‘trying to control’ their relationship.

‘I’ve never met Sam but it was probably said in a very emotional moment,’ Kim said addressing his statement.

‘Based on what I see, he has been a very positive force in her life. She looks beautiful, strong and healthy.

‘She seems positive and very forward-thinking and this is the Britney that’s always been there.

This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV.
