Caitlyn Jenner has spoken about her experiences before transitioning in 2015, saying she used to wear a ‘bra and panties’ while giving speeches about her sports career.
The former athlete and reality star spoke to Keith Lemon about wearing women’s underwear in order to ‘feel better about herself’ during struggles with gender dysmorphia.
Speaking on Shopping with Keith Lemon, Caitlyn spoke about ‘not feeling comfortable’ during her childhood and not feeling a ‘part of the male community’.
Caitlyn said: ‘I was a dyslexic kid. I also had gender dysmorphia. I didn’t feel comfortable but I didn’t know what the reasons were. I was lucky I found sports.’
As Keith explains in the clip, Caitlyn, then Bruce, won the gold medal in the men’s decathlon at the 1976 olympics.
‘It really scared me that I built this character up, Bruce, so big that I was stuck with him for the rest of my life,’ Caitlyn said.
She added: ‘I used to give speeches about the games. I would have a bra and panties on underneath. Just to make me feel a bit better about myself.’
‘I never felt that I was ever part of the male community. I never felt I was part of the female community. I lived by myself for six years and never really went out. I had all kinds of struggles,’ Caitlyn said.
As well as being a star athlete, Caitlyn went on to appear on Keeping Up With The Kardashians, which she said brought her the ‘best times of her life’.
Caitlyn’s family life and personal life, including her gender transition in 2015 and divorce from Kris Jenner, was documented on the show.
