Carol Kirkwood’s costume change on BBC Breakfast on Monday caught many off guard.
The 61-year-old weatherwoman has been providing weather updates on the morning show since 1997, but her unusual styling choice in today’s episode has viewers buzzing.
Carol began her weather report with Sally Nugent and Jon Kay, saying, ‘I am in lovely RSPB Arne in Dorset, look at my view this morning. I must add that it is extremely humid this morning, wherever you are.’
Fans were astonished to find Carol wearing a white T-shirt with a rabbit in sunglasses motif after her clothing was fully revealed.
‘Carol, my daughter loves your t-shirt! Where is it from?’ one person asked via social media.
‘Morning Carol, love the… T-shirt,’ another added.
Carol said last year that she will be fired from the programme within the next ten years.
‘I try not to worry about things I can’t change,’ Carol said. ‘I don’t want to go, but one day it’s going to happen.
‘Hopefully, it will be natural but I also have to acknowledge I’m 60 and am unlikely to be at the BBC when I’m 70, I would have thought.’
Carol continued to the Western Mail: ‘It’s the natural course of events… I don’t want to be using a stairlift to get to the studio in the morning. But I love my job.’
Her revelation occurred months after she announced her engagement to Steve Randall.
Her news was revealed when BBC Breakfast presenter Sally Nugent told her: ‘I’m a little bit concerned about you this morning. I don’t know how you’re managing to stand up with that giant rock on your left hand, Carol.’
Carol replied, saying: ‘Oh that one, thank you Sal. It is rather nice, I got engaged.’
She later posted on Twitter: ‘ have just been reading through all your lovely tweets. THANK YOU SO MUCH. I am really touched … and very happy!!’
BBC Breakfast airs daily from 6am on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
