Catherine Tate apologised to fans after disclosing graphic details from her film production in Australia during the premiere of her current film, Queen of Oz.
The 53-year-old comic stated that she met a variety of creepy crawlies while filming sequences for her new show, and that one insect in particular gave them a pretty hard time.
She was giving insight on the location’s geography, claiming that the crew encountered a leech infestation in the unpredictable Outback.
Catherine was discussing her upcoming comedy show with BBC’s The One Show broadcasters Alex Jones and Jermaine Jenas when the subject of critters came up.
When questioned about her time in Australia, she didn’t hold back in spilling the beans about filming in a steamy, exoctic atmosphere.
She said: ‘The one thing we did come across – that I’ve never encountered before – was leeches, proper leeches.’
A stunned Alex delved further, asking the actress whether any of the creatures had been entangled on her skin.
Catherine responded: ‘I didn’t, I got one on my Ugg boots. You need to be protected and it wasn’t the middle of summer, the seasons are reversed.’
She went on to tell the horrifying account of how some crew members were not so fortunate and discovered the dark things feeding on their skin.
‘It was micro climate so it would be boiling hot one minute and then pouring with rain but someone would be wearing thick jeans and then suddenly they’d go, “Ugh, Dave, Dave, stay still Dave! You’re bleeding”.
‘I mean there would be blood seeping through. Sorry if you’ve just eaten your dinner but yeah, and then when they get full they fall off.’
Her remarks were welcomed with a collective sigh from the star-studded couch as they processed what the comedian had just informed them.
Catherine’s comedy follows the actress as she portrays disgraced British royal Princess Georgiana, who has been exiled to Australia.
The story will follow her adaption to the outside lifestyle after she was sent away to govern in another kingdom when her antics grew too much for her.
Queen of Oz will be available to watch on BBC One Friday June 16.
The One Show airs on BBC One from 7pm on weekdays.
