Following Big Brother’s much anticipated return, the celebrity version is apparently ready to return, with Phillip Schofield slated for the line-up.
The spin-off initially aired from 2001 to 2018, following the normal OG series, which debuted in 2001.
Rylan Clark, Spencer Pratt, Kerry Katonna, Shilpa Shetty, Les Dennis, and even Michael Barrymore have been in the celebrity version throughout the years.
Coleen Nolan, Katie Price, and Jedward from Loose Women have also been in the limelight in the Big Brother house.
And, given the popularity of the current relaunch, it appears that a celebrity resurrection may be on the way shortly.
A source told The Sun: ‘The decision to bring back the stars has been given the green light and they’re now casting for talent. The staff are hammering the phones.
‘The more controversial the line-up the better. They want it to really come back with a bang.’
An ITV spokesperson said: ‘At present we are focused on the current series of Big Brother and any announcements regarding future series will be made in due course.’
According to the BBC, more than 2.5 million people tuned in to see the BB launch earlier this month.
This was a significant increase when compared to another ITV show, Love Island, which only drew 1.3 million viewers on TV this summer, with an extra 400,000 on streaming.
The watching ratings for Big Brother 2023 were the highest in more than a decade, with the show apparently attracting 2.7 million people in 2012 and 2.6 million the previous year.
Only 0.9 million people watched the first episode of the season in 2018, the final year the reality programme aired before it was cancelled.
Big Brother continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2.
