Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins star Kerry Katona screamed at for ‘failing’ first task as she dubs herself ‘pathetic’

The first episode of the new series of Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins saw Kerry Katona be put through the wringer as she unsuccessfully tried to complete the first task, resulting in her being screamed at.

The third series of Channel 4’s Celebrity SAS will see famous faces including Jake Quickenden, Alexandra Burke, Wes Nelson and Vicky Pattison put themselves to the test as they endure challenges that are as gruelling mentally as they are physically.

After arriving for the course in Sunday night’s episode, jumping into freezing cold water from speedboats, the first proper task of the programme tested their fear of heights and their ability to maintain composure while panicking inside.

The celebrities had to take part in an activity that’s known in the military as ‘the trainasium’, which from afar, looks like they’re walking across a tightrope.

Walking across two metal bars with their feet turned outwards, the stars had to rely on their balance as they were unable to hold onto anything as they made their way from one end to the other.

When Kerry first caught a glimpse of the challenge she was facing, she immediately doubted whether she’d be able to do it, stating: ‘I can’t go up there. I can’t, I’m going to be mortified.’

Unfortunately for the TV personality, she was the first celeb up, admitting in a pre-recorded interview that she’s ‘petrified of heights’.

When Kerry first got up on the apparatus, wearing a helmet and a harness for safety, she was reluctant to place one of her feet on the bar, saying that her foot couldn’t move.

As she refrained from letting go of the rope, she was yelled at to release it, eventually obeying the order.

Despite being told ‘not to overthink it’ and to ‘relax’, Kerry continued to panic, screaming as she dropped down on the bar with her legs hanging down.

‘I’m going to come over there and push you off if you don’t stand on your feet, do you understand me?’ Ant Middleton said from behind her.

However, Kerry could not bring herself to stand back up, crawling the rest of the way as Mark Billingham described her attempt as a ‘catastrophic fail’.

‘Pathetic,’ a tearful Kerry muttered to herself, before Mark assured her that when she first started the activity, she was doing well, managing to make it part of the way across.

‘Listen! Stop panicking, that’s what’s going wrong. You start to panic, your head’s up your a**e and you’re all over the place,’ he said, before adding: ‘You can do this.’

Kerry wasn’t the only celebrity not to make it the whole way across.

Plus, being the first person up for the challenge can’t have helped with her nerves.

Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins returns next Sunday at 9pm on Channel 4.
