Channel 4 is down once again with Steph’s Packed Lunch viewers experiencing further disruption.

The broadcaster first reported technical issues on Saturday when its channels went off air. It suffered more problems during Sunday Brunch one day later as screens went blank.

Frustrated viewers have now reported more hiccups just hours before the second episode of Great British Bake Off is due to air, with one writing: ‘I think a Dalek has just taken over #stephspackedlunch.’

‘We’re sorry that some of you are having trouble watching us in HD today, but if you turn over to SD you’ll see our shiny happy faces!’ the show’s official Twitter account announced.

Planting concern that tonight’s Bake Off could be impacted, TV journalist Scott Bryan said: ‘Channel 4 has just crashed again. Imagine if it crashes during Bake Off.

‘Crashes so far have generally happened during quieter nights / daytime slots. If it crashes tonight it would be quite a blow.’

Channel 4 and More4 initially went off air on Saturday, with Channel 5 also facing technical issues

Red Bee Media, which handles playout services for Channel 4 and Channel 5, said the disruption was due to an ‘activation of the fire suppression systems’ on Saturday evening.

A spokesperson said: ‘We confirm that all staff at our Broadcast Centre in west London were safely evacuated following activation of the fire suppression systems.

‘As a result of this incident and the automatic safety measures set in motion at the time, several services originating from the Broadcast Centre have been disrupted.

‘London Fire Brigade attended the scene, and once they had determined that the building is safe, people were allowed to return to the building.

‘We are continuing to work to restore all services and remedy any issues caused by this incident.’

Great British Bake Off airs tonight at 8pm on Channel 4. Hopefully.
