Fred Sirieix, a Channel 4 personality, has stated that his attempts to dive resulted in considerable pain and bruising.
The maitre d’hotel, who presents the dating series First Dates, may have put his body on the line last year when signed up for I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!, but his latest attempt to move out of his comfort zone didn’t end well.
The 52-year-old TV celebrity recently attempted diving with his 17-year-old Olympic diver daughter Andrea, but came from the water bruised.
‘I tried diving for five days with my daughter Andrea – who’s an Olympic with Team GB,’ he said.
‘I was left black and blue, I got bruised everywhere, it was so painful.
‘I was scared every time I was on the board,’ he told Metro.
He continued: ‘My daughter was on the ground and she said, “Daddy, you’ve got to relax, we can see your heart beating in your chest”. I can’t believe she saw that.’
Despite his diving failure, Fred wowed I’m A Celebrity fans last year with his superbly toned physique.
Speaking of his routine, he said: ‘I exercise six times a week and I do 20 minutes of basic bodyweight exercises or 301 push-ups, 100 squats and 100 reverse squats, which takes me 20 minutes.
‘Then I was on the bike for 20 minutes and I did 15 minutes of various exercises with free weights.

‘It’s basically about getting your heart rate up for 20 minutes a day. The older you get, the more you realise it’s about mobility.’
For those who recall Fred’s famed fights with co-star Josie Gibson, he has now stated that his biggest difficulty while at camp was his love of food.
‘In the morning, you’re given the rice and bean portions, and you have to decide what you cook and when you’re cooking,’ he recalled.
‘So, we’d usually have rice in the morning, beans for lunch and then keep something back for the evening.
‘By the afternoon, your energy levels go down, but you need to save energy to get water and wood. That’s when you get hungry.’
After 17 days in the forest, Fred stated that the low-calorie diet had ‘taken its toll’.
‘We were all getting smaller by the day,’ he posted on social media.
‘I lost quite a bit of weight but not as much as I would have done if I did not exercise. Keeping active and staying strong never made more sense!’
Fred claimed to have dropped roughly 3 kilogrammes while on the show.
First Dates airs on Tuesdays at 10pm on Channel 4.
