Cheer season 2 deals with claims of predatory sexual abuse made against Jerry Harris

Cheer season 2 unveils the horrific claims of sexual abuse allegations against Jerry Harris.

In the fifth episode of the Netflix documentary, twin survivors Charlie and Sam share the grim details of the abuse they allegedly experienced aged just 13-years-old.

In September 2020, Harris was charged by the FBI with the production of child pornography.

A spokesperson for him denied the allegations, saying: ‘We categorically dispute the claims made against Jerry Harris, which are alleged to have occurred when he was a teenager.

‘We are confident that when th investigation is completed the true facts will be revealed.’

Three months later in December 2020, Harris faced an additional seven charges involving incidents with four other minors from August 2017 to August 2020. He pled not guilty to the new charges.

Twins Charlie and Sam claim Cheer star Harris solicited explicit photos and sex when he was 19 and they were 13.

‘One day in December 2018, so this was my first-year season, he [Harris] messaged me on my private Instagram account on his private Instagram account, basically just saying “hey”,’ Charlie alleges.

‘He asked me how old I was, and I told him that I was 13. And then after that, right off the bat, he asked me “can I have butt pics?” or “can you send butt pics?”’

Charlie confirms he did send a picture.

‘I was willing to do that and was kind of blindsided by his notoriety at that time,’ he admits.

Sam found out what was happening after a couple of months of Harris messaging Charlie and asking for pictures.

Charlie reveals that he met Harris for the first time in 2019 at the NCA’s National Championship.

‘I was trying my best to just avoid him because I was trying to avoid confrontation and just feeling uncomfortable,’ he tells the camera. ‘I was also kind of ashamed and embarrassed that I was talking to him in that way.’

He then claims: ‘It was day one and Jerry kept on harassing me and was like “we should really find a way to hang out today or something” and I was like “no, I don’t want to.”

‘But then he was like, “just go with me to this bathroom”.’

Charlie alleges that he followed Harris into the bathroom and because there was a third person in the toilet, he texted Charlie asking, ‘do you want to have sex?’

‘I was like “no I do not”,’ Charlie continues, before alleging that Harris then asked him  for oral sex, to which he replied: ‘I’m not comfortable with that either.’

‘The other person left the bathroom and then Jerry cornered me into the bathroom stall and was just like continually pleading with me to just have sex with him,’ he alleges.

Charlie’s twin, Sam, claims he soon began to receive messages from Harris too.

‘It made me feel super uncomfortable,’ he says. ‘It almost felt like we were alone. It started to become extremely hard for me and Charlie to pay attention in school.’

The twins admit they were worried about reporting Harris because they feared they would lose their cheer friends as result.

Eventually, their mother Kristen took Charlie’s phone where she claims she stumbled across a message from Harris.

‘There was a text message from Jerry that was kind of unusual that said “I’m sorry for what I’ve done in the past. I don’t think it’s a good idea that we be friends on Snapchat anymore”,’ Kristen alleges.

She then adds that she discovered the For My Eyes Only tool on Snapchat, which allows users to store content using password protection.

‘The first thing that was in that folder was a video that Jerry had sent him of himself,’ Kristen alleges.

‘It was a video of a man who was wearing athletic shorts and a red T-shirt, and it was from the torso down. The man was masturbating in the video. His face was not visible in the video, but I asked Charlie who it was, and he said it was Jerry.

‘It was horrifying.’

Should he be convicted Harris, who is 22, faces up to 30 years in prison.

Cheer season 2 arrives on Netflix on Wednesday, January 12.
