Cheer season 2 is just days away from launching on Netflix and looks set to be even more dramatic than its debut.
It’s been two years since we last saw the Navarro College Bulldogs Cheer Team in action and the stakes have never been higher.
The new chapter will explore how the cast has dealt with fame as well as Covid and the sexual abuse allegations against Jerry Harris, which he denies.
Here’s everything you need to know about the incoming nine episodes that are on their way.
When is Cheer season 2 out on Netflix UK?
Cheer season 2 launches on Netflix on Wednesday, January 12 at 8am.
‘The Emmy-winning breakout sensation is back and the stakes have never been higher,’ the synopsis teases.
‘As season two opens and the buzz around their newfound stardom threatens to alter the dynamic of Navarro Cheer, the team finds no amount of press frenzy could compare to the challenges they must face when COVID-19 upends the 2020 cheer season and a serious criminal accusation is levied at one of their teammates.
‘Against that dramatic backdrop, the 9-episode season expands to showcase Navarro’s fiercest rival: Trinity Valley Community College. As with the Navarro team, TVCC has a charismatic coach and breakout stars whose struggles, triumphs and stories extend far beyond the mat.
‘As both teams push for the 2021 championship in Daytona, familiar faces take compelling detours and new contenders make a name for themselves.’
What happened in the Cheer season 2 trailer?
A two-minute trailer for Cheer season 2 was released earlier this month and looks set to be jam-packed with challenges for the team.
Responding to the news of Harris’s arrest, Navarro coach Monica Aldama tells the camera: ‘I can’t even process it right now.’
Viewers also see Navarro rivals Trinity Valley Community College’s The Cardinals in action as they work equally hard to take down their competitors at the next NCAA National Championship.
Only time will tell just who
Will Gabi Butler, Lexi Brumback and Morgan Simianer return for Cheer season 2?
Cheer season 2 will see the return of many of the show’s original cast members.
Gabi Butler and Lexi Brumback will feature in the new series, as well as teammates La’Darius Marshall and Morgan Simianer.
In May 2020, Gabi insisted there was no bad blood with the Netflix director Greg Whiteley after her parents received backlash from viewers.
Throughout the original season, the star’s mum and dad caused controversy and seemingly came across as controlling when they relayed her hectic schedule, right down to what pictures she should be posting on social media.
‘We love Greg,’ she told Metro.co.uk at the time. ‘He felt very bad about the way people were coming at my parents, so he wanted to kind of make it right.
‘But yeah, he’s an amazing guy. Definitely. A great, great guy. Amazing producer. Super sweet.’
Will Cheer season 2 address Jerry Harris allegations?
In September 2020, Cheer star Jerry Harris was charged by the FBI with the production of child pornography.
A spokesperson for him denied the allegations, saying: ‘We categorically dispute the claims made against Jerry Harris, which are alleged to have occurred when he was a teenager.
‘We are confident that when the investigation is completed the true facts will be revealed.’
Three months later in December 2020, Harris faced an additional seven charges involving incidents with four other minors from August 2017 to August 2020. He pled not guilty to the new charges.
Cheer season two will air one episode that focuses entirely on the misconduct accusations.
Cheer season 2 arrives on January 12 on Netflix.
