Chucklevision fans have been left in shock online after a rude joke resurfaced on social media.

Thousands of children across the UK grew up loving Chucklevision on CBBC back in the day, but it turns out there are plenty of adult-orientated gags which most of us failed to understand the first time round.

Now, some viewers have claimed their ‘childhood is ruined’ after seeing the newly-uncovered clip from an old episode.

TikTok account @goodolbritishnostalgia shared the footage which shows brothers Barry and Paul Chuckle meeting with a leprechaun.

Only, Barry is completely unable to see the mythical creature. In one sequence, he bends down to try and get the creature to leave Paul alone so he can complete his work.

He leans down and reaches out his hand, leading Paul to ask: ‘What are you doing?’

Barry says he’s ‘tickling him under the chin’. However, Paul explains that the creature is actually much taller than he thought – meaning Barry was tickling a very different part of the body indeed.

Barry is horrified by the new information, saying ‘errgh!’

Safe to say, most viewers completely misunderstood the joke as children, and it’s had an unsettling effect on social media users.

‘How did they get away with that?’ one disgruntled viewer wrote.

‘Childhood ruined,’ another added.

How many other adult-themed jokes did we miss as children? The children’s programme, known for Paul and Barry Chuckle’s slapstick antics and ‘to me, to you’ catchphrase, ran for 21 series and 300 episodes before the show ended in 2009.

ChuckleVision was previously crowned the greatest CBBC series ever in a poll of 3,000 conducted by Radio Times, followed by The Story Of Tracy Beaker and Dick And Dom In Da Bungalow, back in 2020.

Paul’s brother Jimmy Patton died aged 87 in 2019, a year after Barry Chuckle who passed away from bone cancer aged 73 in August 2018.
