Cobra Kai fans are about to get a little festive cheer because Netflix has brought forward its release date to New Year’s Day.
The latest drama surrounding the warring dojos was originally announced to be released on January 8, but has now zoomed forward to January 1 so we can literally kickstart 2021.
And it couldn’t come a moment too soon considering so much has been left hanging in the air after the nail biting cliffhanger of season two.
After a full-blown brawl broke out in the school between Cobra Kai and Miyagi-Do, poor Miguel (Xolo Maridueña) was left fighting for his life in hospital after being kicked over a bannister by Robbie (Tanner Buchanan) who is now on the run.
Season three will pick up in the aftermath – with Hawk (Jacob Bertrand) and Tory (Peyton List) now the stars of Cobra Kai and out for blood, blaming Miyagi-Do for their friend’s injuries as he lies in hospital.
It’s made worse now that Kreese (Martin Kove) formed a mutiny against Johnny (William Zapka) and replaced him as leader of the dojo.
While Johnny licks his wounds and tries to be there for Miguel, his rival Daniel (Ralph Macchio) has shut down Miyagi-Do completely, and is trying to save his car dealership which has taken a hit itself after word got out about the school fight.
Looking for some guidance, he heads back to Okinawa, Japan, and runs into some familiar faces.
But with Cobra Kai becoming more and more violent, he’s forced to approach arch rival Johnny and ask to do the unthinkable – join forces in order to take Kreese down.
Will Johnny say yes? And if so, will they actually be able to finally put their past behind them?
Cobra Kai season 3 launches January 1 on Netflix.
