Coleen Nolan opened up about her sisters’ cancer and fear that ‘she’ll be next’ on last night’s episode of The Full Monty On Ice.
The Loose Women presenter lost her sister Bernie to the disease in 2013, while her sisters Anne and Linda both received diagnoses this year.
Linda recently confirmed that her liver cancer has spread, while earlier this month, Anne declared she is cancer free.
‘Cancer took my sister Bernie in 2013 and I didn’t think life could get any worse than that and then bam, 2020 comes along,’ Coleen told the camea.
‘My first thought when I was told about Anne and Linda was, “I can’t bear losing any more sisters. I can’t bear it.” It’s been horrendous actually.
‘You know, you try and be strong for them because they’re really strong. But there’s just times where you feel really weak with it and angry and it’s not fair.’
Coleen continued: ‘Once I got over the shock and trauma of finding out, you go through the panic of, “Am I next?” It’s obviously so in my family.
‘Linda will never be able to be cured, they can only treat it for as long as they can.
‘Anne went very quickly when she found hers and she’s just had her test results and the cancer’s gone. It made it even more important to get this message across. Don’t be scared, just go because it could save your life.’
In September, Coleen revealed she was in limbo over whether to undergo a double mastectomy.
‘When I first heard about Linda and Anne back in April, my knee-jerk reaction was, get these breasts off me!’ she told OK! magazine.
‘It’s like having two timebombs sitting there.’
Coleen continued: ‘Since then I’ve calmed down, but I still lie awake at night worrying. I’m in limbo and really struggling to decide. It’s horrendous enough when you’ve got no choice in the matter, but when it’s a voluntary decision to lose your breasts it’s so difficult.’
