A contestant on Michael McIntyre’s The Wheel managed to beat the odds to win a massive £56,000 despite choosing ‘worst’ expert Stacey Dooley for the final question.
Erica Ellicott had missed out on most of the game after not getting selected on The Wheel, but managed to end up scooping the top prize available.
After managing to complete The Wheel, Erica was left with the choice of three experts – strongest player Judy Murray, medium player Vikkstar and weakest player Stacey Dooley with the amount to be won based on how well each expert had done.
If Erica were to choose Judy, the final question would be for £14,000, with Vikkstar it would be £28,000 and Stacey would net her £56,000.
Taking the ultimate gamble, Erica chose Stacey to go to the last question with her, which was: ‘Who was named Time Magazine’s person of the year in 2008 and 2012?’
Erica and Stacey had to choose between Queen Elizabeth II, Barack Obama, Beyonce and Pope Francis and between them managed to decipher that the correct answer was in fact Barack Obama.
Viewers were over the moon to see Erica scoop the life-changing sum on The Wheel, tweeting: ‘What a win!!!’ and ‘Aww well chuffed for Erika’.
Some viewers joked that Stacey should have been more certain of the answer seeing as the years corresponded to the US election.
They wrote: ‘Absolutely cannot cope with the fact Stacey Dooley, who has a career making documentaries on current affairs, didn’t know that 2008 and 2012 were the years Obama won the presidency.’
Erica’s win also came after fellow contestant Andy made it to The Wheel four times during the course of the show but couldn’t make it to the end.
