Countdown viewers laugh at ‘bad-timing’ as Anne Robinson makes Matt Hancock joke before kissing scandal

The scenes were filmed before Mr Hancock resigned from his role as Health Secretary after footage emerged of him breaking social distancing rules by kissing his aide, Gina Coladangelo, in May.

Viewers couldn’t help but laugh at the timing of the conversation, with one tweeting: ‘What a day to mention Hancock.’

‘I don’t think anyone wants to do Matt Hancock at the moment,’ another joked.

One added: ‘Great timing with the Matt Hancock impressions from Rory Bremner.’

Alongside a meme of Moira from Schitt’s Creek uttering ‘oh dear,’ another wrote: ‘When they’re talking about Matt Hancock on,’ with a meme of

Anne’s first episode began with a clip of her appearing on Countdown in the 70s with late host Richard Whiteley sitting in the main chair. She’s now part of an all-female panel with regular presenters Rachel Riley and Susie Dent.

Countdown airs weekdays at 2:10pm on Channel 4.
