Courteney Cox recreates iconic Friends turkey scene and we’re incredibly thankful

Despite insisting if she was sent a gif of the scene she’d snap, Courteney Cox has blessed us by recreating the iconic dancing Turkey scene from Friends.

And, we have to say, that’s what we’re incredibly thankful for right now.

In the US stars (and, like, not famous people, we suppose) are celebrating Thanksgiving, and Courteney took a moment to look back upon one of the more memorable scenes from her sitcom.

The year was 1998 and in episode The One With All The Thanksgivings Courteney’s character Monica Geller attempted to cheer up her boyfriend Chandler Bing (played by Matthew Perry).

Seemingly the only option was to delicately place the soon-to-be-cooked turkey on her noggin, add a pair of sunglasses and a Fez hat, and shimmy for her lover.

He then tells her he loved her for the first time and the scene goes down in history as one of the best from the series. Or, at least, one of the most giff-able.

Anyway, riffing on that moment, Court jumped on Instagram overnight and told her followers: ‘Happy Thanksgiving everyone, hope you’re having a great day.’

She went on: ‘I’m feeling so thankful…and also if I get one more god damn gif with that turkey on my head dancing like a f*****g fool…’

Regaining her composure, she added: ‘…I’m gonna snap. So anyway, since I’m the symbol of Thanksgiving, here you go, hope it makes you happy.’

Cut to present day Courteney rocking her turkey on her head while the theme song for the sitcom – The Rembrandts’ I’ll Be There For You – plays in the background.

Of course Court’s followers were absolutely thriving with the festive moment, with her Friends co-star Lisa Kudrow (who played Phoebe Buffay) writing: ‘You DID THAT.’

Reese Witherspoon (who did have a small role on the show as Jennifer Aniston’s character Rachel Green’s little sister Jill) simply commented: ‘Love you sister,’ which was similar to Sean Hayes who wrote: ‘Haha! Love it. Love you.’

Should punters want to create the scene themselves but not want to put an animal carcass on their head, there is a Halloween costume version that won’t leave gizzards in your hair. Just so you know.

Courteney’s nod to Friends comes not long after Chandler star Matthew updated us all on the long-awaited reunion special of the series (which also starred Matt LeBlanc as Joey Tribbiani and David Schwimmer as Ross Geller).

‘Friends reunion being rescheduled for the beginning of March. Looks like we have a busy year coming up. And that’s the way I like it!’ Matthew told his followers.

The HBO Max special was announced earlier this year but was delayed just weeks later due to the coronavirus pandemic meaning the Central Perk gang weren’t able to film.
