Daisy May Cooper has brought back This Country icon Kerry Mucklowe for a one-off special event, and managed to raise £10,000 in the process.

The actress and Taskmaster star was thought to have said goodbye to Kerry and her cousin Kurtan (played by her brother Charlie Cooper) earlier this year, with series three of the BBC favourite wrapping up the comedy.

But, in order to do her bit for those in need around Christmas, the iconic loudmouth Kerry made a return – and she didn’t have to be plummed in order to agree.

Posting on Instagram, Daisy – who gave birth to a baby boy earlier this year – announced that she would make personal videos as Kerry for fans, in a limited run of 50 clips… and they sold out within two hours.

Charging £200 per video, fans couldn’t wait to have Kerry herself saying whatever they wanted her to, with all the money raised going to charity, BXM Inspired.

Writing on Instagram, Daisy wrote: ‘All 50 videos have sold out! Thank you so much to everyone who bought a video and also to those who’ve donated!

‘To all those who have bought a video, you should receive it at some point today.

‘The most amazing thing is we’ve managed to raise 10k for disadvantaged children. What a bloody incredible gift that is.

‘THANKYOU ALL SO MUCH.’

BXM Inspired provides funding for children and young people whose parents are unable to afford to send them on outdoor educational trips, and curates programmes to raise aspirations and combat mental health issues.

As to why she chose this charity, Daisy said: ‘I was often unable to go on school trips as a child as my parents couldn’t afford it.

‘It is awful that any child should miss out.’

Here’s how you can also donate to the charity.

This Country is available on BBC iPlayer.
