Dan Walker surprised himself after making it through to the quarter-finals on Strictly Come Dancing, but fans couldn’t help but wonder whether he would challenge himself further on Dancing On Ice.

The BBC Breakfast presenter, 44, was the 10th celebrity eliminated from the hit dance programme, however when asked by a fan whether he would participate on ‘the greatest show on ice’, he hinted it would be a possibility on one condition – if professional partner Nadiya Bychkova does it too.

During an Instagram Stories Q&A session, the star replied: ‘”Just ‘dancing” was hard enough. I’ll do it @nadiyabychova does it.’

The series, which saw Rose Ayling-Ellis and Giovanni Pernice crowned the champions, had the star feeling like a ‘completely different person’ to who he started out as after three months of working with Nadiya.

He explained: ‘There are some people who walk into your life and turn some lights on, and that’s what she has done to me.

‘You’re an amazing person, and if you’ll have me, you’ll have a friend for life Nadiya Bychkova.’

Earlier this month, Dan branded the show’s infamous Strictly curse ‘disappointing’ after sharing an emotional moment with the ballroom and Latin pro backstage.

‘I know these happen every year on Strictly, and there have been instances in the past of the so-called curse, and it’s just telly. But it’s just not nice,’ he added.

The phenomenon doesn’t simply refer to singletons meeting and falling in love while competing on the show.

The supposed curse refers to individuals taking part in Strictly who are already in relationships and end up finding romance with fellow participants.

It won’t be long until we see the return of ITV’s annual skating series, and it’s already had quite the shake-up, with Oti Mabuse replacing John Barrowman on the judging panel alongside Ashley Banjo, Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean.

The official line-up has been confirmed so expect to see the likes of Love Island’s Liberty Poole, Coronation Street’s Sally Dynevor, Pussycat Dolls’ Kimberly Wyatt and ex-Strictly dancer Brendan Cole.

Other contestants include rugby player Ben Foden, paralympic track and field athlete Stef Reid, Happy Mondays star Bez, dancer (and son of Paul) Regan Gascoigne, former S Club 7 singer Rachel Stevens, Olympic BMX rider Kye Whyte, presenter Ria Hebden and The Vamps’ Connor Ball.

Strictly Come Dancing is available to watch on BBC iPlayer and Dancing On Ice will start on ITV in January.
