Dancing On Ice 2021: Rufus Hound jokes Rebekah Vardy’s partner’s injury is ‘divine justice’

Dancing On Ice star Rufus Hound has joked that Rebekah Vardy’s partner Andy Buchanan’s face injury is ‘divine justice’.

The pro skater suffered a gruesome training injury when he had his face sliced open by an ice skate blade while training with the WAG.

Speaking on This Morning, Andy’s wife and fellow pro Robin Johnstone assured fans that he is okay and currently recuperating.

However, Rufus, who’s paired with Robin, was quick to joke about the incident.

‘It’s sort of divine justice, cause if you’ve seen Andy, he’s so ridiculously handsome he could do with a bit of roughing up,’ he laughed.

And he wasn’t the only one finding it funny, as Dermot O’Leary went on to reference Rebekah’s feud with Coleen Rooney, and ask Robin: ‘When that happened did he come home…and point at his face and say, “It’s….Rebekah Vardy”?’.

Giggling, she assured him it didn’t quite go down like that – and we’re calling that a missed opportunity.

Rebekah recently opened up about Andy’s injury, admitting she ‘laughed’ at first, because she thought he was joking.

‘I actually thought he was messing around, to begin with, because he does like a bit of a joke,’ she told and other press.

‘The last thing he said to me was, “Don’t kick me in the face” and I was like “Why would you say that? Why have you just said that you just gonna Jinx us?”

‘So we did what we were doing, and he nearly dropped me and I was like oh s**t what was going on? And I looked at him and he was holding his face and I said stop messing about and I laughed.’

‘He removed his hand from his face and there was blood everywhere,’ she continued. ‘I hate the sight of blood. Five kids and I can’t deal with blood, I nearly passed out.’

Rebekah went on to explain that the incident did affect her confidence afterwards as she admitted to being ‘petrified’ of getting back on the ice.

With the star set to perform on Sunday evening, we’re sure she and Rufus are both set to smash it.

Dancing On Ice airs on Sunday at 6pm on ITV and This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV.
