Dancing on Ice 2021: Winner Sonny Jay surprised with ice rink on return to Capital FM by Roman Kemp and Siân Welby

Dancing on Ice winner Sonny Jay was in for a treat at Capital FM this morning, after being surprised with an ice rink on his triumphant return to the station.

The DJ won over the nation in the final last night and beat Colin Jackson and Faye Brookes to be crowned series champion.

His colleagues at Capital had a special gift for him, transforming the show’s balcony into a rink in his honour.

He was joined by co-stars Roman Kemp and Siân Welby as they celebrated his win, with the station sharing pictures on social media and writing: ‘Building an entire rink for #DancingOnIce legend, @SonnyJay.’

Sonny woke up as Dancing On Ice champion on Monday morning – and he may have woken with a sore head, too.

Radio presenter Roman revealed that his Capital Breakfast co-host Sonny was celebrating in style, divulging on Twitter that his colleague is ‘sloshed’.

In the series finale of Dancing On Ice, Sonny was crowned the winner alongside his professional skating partner Angela Egan. Speaking after his victory, Sonny said: ‘I’ve loved this experience, it’s been great.’

Sonny and his professional partner Angela Egan wowed with their Bolero routine, which was inspired by Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean’s iconic Olympics performance.

The Dancing On Ice final saw former celebrity contestants return for a group dance after several dropped out of the competition due to injuries.

Comedian Matt Richardson, who replaced Rufus Hound after he tested positive for coronavirus, suffered an unfortunate moment after stumbling over his partner Vicky Ogden.

Faye, who came in second, was reduced to tears when she was presented with a special good luck message from her former partner Hamish Gaman, who was forced to quit after sustaining a hand injury.

Dancing On Ice is available to watch on ITV Player.
