Greg Rutherford, a Dancing On Ice performer, is afraid that his latest injury could cause problems on the ITV reality programme.
The 37-year-old, teamed with pro skater Vanessa James, pulled his groyne during a warm-up before his most recent performance and hopes it doesn’t worsen.
The Olympic long jumper is especially anxious because he had to withdraw from his sport owing to a shoulder injury in the run-up to the 2022 Olympics.
Speaking on Channel 5 show, Alexis Conran & Friends, said: ‘My body isn’t what it once was anyway and I had to retire due to injuries anyway so it’s very tough.’
‘The thing is, you never lose the mindset of what you have so in training and everything else, you’ll always push yourself, but the problem is things like this then take place and then you deal with it again, which is less than ideal,’ he explained.
When asked if he was worried about how it would affect his time on the programme, Greg was open about his fears.
‘A little bit, yeah we’ll see, we’re having to push through to this weekend.’
Luckily, Greg is ‘100%’ sure he will be ‘fine’ for the upcoming episode, but added: ‘I just hope it doesn’t get any worse. If it doesn’t get any worse I’ll be fine.’
Before his last performance, Greg had to visit the show’s physiotherapist to find out if it was safe to go onto the ice for the live show. He called the situation ‘frustrating’ as he ‘desperately’ wanted to show off what he’d learnt that week.

He was given the go-ahead despite missing the dress rehearsal and performed a flawless routine to On My Own from Les Miserables during musical week.
Greg has been around the top of the scoreboard since the beginning, avoiding elimination.
Emmerdale’s Roxy Shahidi and comedian Lou Sanders both exited the competition in a harsh double elimination.
Dancing On Ice continues Sunday at 6:20pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
