Former Dancing On Ice judge Jason Gardiner has revealed he lived in a tent after being axed from the ITV show.
The 49-year-old panellist left the series in 2019 after clashing with Gemma Collins and eventually quit showbiz altogether.
Since then, Jason has become one with nature, having lived in a tent while building eco-housing for refugees, learning about land management and teaching others how to live sustainably.
He also noted that taking a step back helped him to realise Dancing On Ice was ‘toxic’.
‘My tenure on Dancing On Ice was always marred with controversy and lots of issues but the problem is, I didn’t realise how toxic it was until I left,’ Jason said.
‘It took me a while to decompress from it, I’ll be honest.
‘Then I would wake up at 6am, do my yoga outside, go for a walk and that’s when I realised I’m living an amazing experience right here. ‘
He continued to the Irish Mirror: ‘Slowly but surely I began to realise I was so much better because I wasn’t stressed.’
Jason shared that his move towards more holistic living came after his neighbour introduced him to her allotment.
He soon moved out of London, where he used his time to help others while in turn evolving his ‘love’ of the environment.
Dancing On Ice replaced Jason with John Barrowman in 2019, with the Doctor Who star making his debut appearance as judge in the 2020 series.
ITV confirmed on Sunday that John has been axed from the programme and won’t be a panellist on this year’s programme.
The skating competition will return to ITV in the new year with 12 celebrities taking to the rink to impress the viewing public and judging panel.
