Hannah Spearritt has apparently decided not to compete in the Dancing On Ice final.
The former S Club 7 singer was ‘heartbroken’ when she left the ITV programme in week three with professional partner Andy Buchanan. They were eliminated immediately as a result of a one-week rule change that removed the couple with the fewest votes without having to compete in the skate-off.
She is apparently not planning to join her fellow 2024 participants for a last run on the ice on Sunday’s show. Every contender returns for the final episode to demonstrate their skating abilities in a group routine, as is the annual custom.
A source told The Sun: ‘Show bosses would have loved Hannah to be a part of Sunday’s final and skate alongside her fellow cast members of 2024 but as yet, they have not received confirmation from Hannah or her reps that she will be taking part in the show.’
After she was eliminated following a Frozen-themed skate to Let It Go during the show’s movie week, host Holly Willoughby told Hannah: ‘I’m so sorry, I don’t think any of us wanted to let you go at this point.’
She replied: ‘It’s sad to see anyone go.’
Hannah, 42, was happy to have performed as Elsa from Frozen for her final performance because her two kids, Tora and Taya, and partner Adam Thomas were in the audience.
As the camera cut to her family, she said: ‘It was nice to finish on Elsa.
‘I’ve enjoyed it, everyone has been fantastic and to be partnered with Andy, it was a joy, thank you for the journey.’
When she signed up for the show, the celebrity stated that she wanted to challenge herself beyond of her comfort zone and improve her fitness.
She said: ‘I’m really excited about learning a new skill.
‘It’s so easy to live your comfortable life and that aspect of mixing things up is very appealing.
‘Fitness is another reason why I’m doing it! It’s really exciting.’
The 46-year-old elected to join Dancing On Ice after stepping out of the reunion tour with bandmates Tina Barrett, Jon Lee, Bradley McIntosh, Jo O’Meara, and Rachel Stevens after Paul Cattermole’s death at the age of 46.
Hannah disclosed only days before the launch that she had been suffering from an autoimmune illness that caused persistent exhaustion, cognitive fog, and vertigo.
This weekend, the 2024 Dancing On Ice Champion will be announced. Following Amber Davies’ elimination in the semi-finals, Adele Roberts, Miles Nazaire, Ryan Thomas, and Greg Rutherford are currently in the running.
If Adele wins, she will be the first female champion since 2013, although she is presently third in the bookmakers’ standings, trailing Miles and Greg.
Dancing On Ice final airs Sundays on ITV1 at 6:25pm.
