Stephen Lustig-Webb, a Gogglebox icon, has been forced to withdraw from Dancing On Ice owing to injuries.
Stephen has had to withdraw from the tournament due to a broken left ankle, as advised by medical specialists.
A spokesperson for Dancing On Ice said: ‘Stephen Lustig-Webb has had to withdraw from the show due to an injury he sustained to his ankle during training.
‘He is still very much a part of the Dancing On Ice family, we will be helping to support Stephen and we wish him well with his recovery.’
Stephen, 52, departed Gogglebox to seek other chances, beginning with an appearance on the ITV skating reality programme.
According to the Daily Mail, Stephen is ‘gutted’ over his early departure.
They allege Stephen ‘turned on his skates’ and’snapped his ankle’ on Wednesday. He was then airlifted to Portsmouth’s Queen Alexandra Hospital.
Stephen was advised by the medical staff that he would be on crutches for at least three months.
According to the magazine, Stephen had metal plates implanted in his ankle during a surgery.
His involvement in the series was disclosed during an edition of Lorraine just over two weeks ago.
Speaking about his inclusion, an excited and nervous Stephen said: ‘The last time I was on the ice I think I was 14 (years old) so almost 40 years ago.’
In September, Stephen and his husband, Daniel Lustig-Webb, quit Gogglebox.
‘We feel the time is appropriate to move on and pursue other options,’ Stephen said in a statement.
‘We’d like to thank Channel 4 and Studio Lambert for giving us the opportunity to be a part of this great, amusing, and heartwarming show.’
Amber Davies, Ricky Hatton, Hannah Spearritt, Greg Rutherford, Claire Sweeney, Miles Nazaire, Lou Sanders, Ricky Norwood, Adele Roberts, Roxy Shahidi, and Ryan Thomas will continue to compete in Dancing on Ice.
Dancing On Ice will return to ITV in 2024.
