Ryan Thomas was ‘wounded’ during Dancing On Ice training only days before the major debut show.
The celebrity figure skating competition returns this weekend, with a fresh batch of renowned names putting their abilities on the ice, but the 39-year-old Coronation Street star has experienced a setback.
On Thursday, his professional partner Amani Fancy uploaded a video of the former soap star with an ice pack on his shoulder, only days after another participant had to withdraw.
She captioned the video: ‘The wounded @ryanthomas84.’
Thankfully for Ryan’s fans, Amani reassured everyone he will be in tip top shape for the first live show.
She added: ‘Don’t worry everyone, they’re just sore.’
Ryan’s route to the Dancing On Ice premiere has not been simple, as he previously had a ‘nasty fall’ on the ice.
Amani told This Morning that they had been working hard to prevent another unpleasant situation.
She said: ‘I mean we’ve got a long journey ahead of us, we need to make sure that what happened in practice a few weeks ago doesn’t happen in the live shows – which was quite a tough fall.
‘But it’s not easy, they’ve got to lift us, they’ve got a life in their hands.’
Despite the hurdles, Amani considers her union with the former Corrie star to be a dream come true.
After the lineup was officially revealed, she wrote on Instagram: ‘I’ve honestly been hoping for this pairing since the @dancingonice line up came out after watching an interview Ryan was on, to the point where I’ve nagged production to tell me if it was him countless times but had no luck until today.
‘I’m so proud to be your partner and cannot wait to see you thrive and become the skater I know you can be.
‘Who knows, maybe we won’t be able to tell who the professional is by the end of the competition.’
Dancing On Ice returns Sunday, January 14 at 6.30pm on ITV1.
