ITV has confirmed that Dancing on Ice will go ahead this weekend despite Jason Donovan becoming the latest celebrity to quit.
The former soap star was forced to leave the ITV competition after failing to recover from a back injury.
Jason had previously been advised to rest by the show’s medical team and he missed the show on February 14.
However, he has now been told by bosses that he is no longer able to continue.
Confirming the news, a spokesperson for ITV explained: ‘Jason Donovan has brought us so much joy with his performances on Dancing On Ice – from Priscilla through to the tango.
‘Our thanks go to Jason and his partner Alex for being so wonderful and committed to the series. We’re sorry to see them leave and we wish Jason a speedy recovery.’
It comes after host Phillip Schofield threw the programme’s future into doubt after admitting that he doesn’t know whether Dancing on Ice would return this weekend.
Producers decided to pause the show on Sunday, so that the contestants could rest and recover.
Last week professional skater Hamish Gaman became another casualty to drop out of the programme after he injured his finger pulling up a sock.
Soap star Joe-Warren Plant and partner Vanessa Bauer were also forced to leave the show after testing positive for coronavirus, as was Rufus Hound.
Elsewhere, reality star Billie Shepherd quit after suffering a heavy fall on the ice, while Denise Van Outen also previously had to withdraw due to a broken shoulder.
Professional dancer Yebin Mok was also hospitalised at the beginning of the competition after suffering a horror injury on the ice.
Dancing on Ice will return on Sunday at 6pm on ITV.
