Television personality Kaitlyn Bristowe has been crowned the winner of the 29th season of Dancing With The Stars, lifting the Mirrorball Trophy alongside her professional dance partner, Artem Chigvintsev.
Former star of The Bachelorette Kaitlyn beat out rapper Nelly, actor Justina Machado and Catfish host Nev Schulman to take the title, after performing an Argentine Tango to Toxic by Britney Spears and a freestyle dance to Sparkling Diamonds from the 2001 Baz Luhrmann film Moulin Rouge.
After scoring perfect 30s for both dances, all Kaitlyn and Artem needed to go home with the trophy was to win the public vote.
Fortunately for them, the public delivered, with Kaitlyn and Artem screaming with excitement as Dancing With The Stars host Tyra Banks informed them that they had beat runners-up Nev and his partner Jenna Johnson at the final hurdle.
Kaitlyn’s victory marks the first time Artem has won the Mirrorball Trophy, having been on Dancing With The Stars for the past six years.
Artem was previously a professional dancer on Strictly Come Dancing, winning the competition in his first year alongside actor Kara Tointon.
Following her win, Kaitlyn, 35, shared a post on Instagram featuring her competitor Nev, in which she joked that she thought she was being Catfished when she won the competition.
‘It’s the humour for me. Thought I was being catfished when I won tonight. Nev you’re a beautiful dancer and I hate you,’ she wrote in the caption.
Several Dancing With The Stars fans celebrated Kaitlyn’s win on social media.
‘I am so happy for Kaitlyn and Artem! After all these years, Artem finally won the Mirrorball! Congratulations!!!!’ one person wrote on Twitter.
‘Congratulations!! Artem you are a genius! And Kaitlyn you are a GREAT dancer! Never let anyone tell you different!!’ another said.
The finale of season 29 of Dancing With The Stars saw this year’s eliminated contestants return for special appearances on the show.
Television host Jeannie Mai was among them, returning just weeks after having to pull out of the competition and undergo throat surgery.
