Jeannie Mai made her return to Dancing With The Stars for the first time after being forced to quit the show amid a medical crisis.
The TV host was devastated when she had to withdraw from the competition earlier this month in order to undergo emergency surgery on her throat.
Jeannie, 41, was on hand to cheers on Bachelorette star Kaitlyn Bristowe and Artem Chigvintsev as they went on to win the Mirror Ball trophy.
Her return to the studio was highlighted by host Tyra Banks who pointed her out in the studio audience, highlighting she was recovering well after being hospitalized with a condition called epiglottitis.
The How Do I Look? star was treated for the rare condition after medical workers discovered an abscess in her throat and an infection that spread to her tonsils.
Jeannie has kept fans updated regarding her recovery on her Instagram, as she spoke out after being forced to leave the show.
‘I would never imagine ever having to write this, but I made it safely out of my emergency surgery,’ Jeannie wrote.
‘I will be forever grateful to Dr. Nasseri who identified my potentially life-threatening condition. What simply started as a sore throat had unbeknownst to me become a dangerous infection that already closed at least 60% of my airway and resulted in a throat abscess that spread in a matter of three days.’
Jeannie also revealed she was ‘devastated’ that her journey on the show was over, writing: ‘Dancing on this show has been the most exhilarating adventure. I’ve gained both beautiful friendships and loving supporters.’
There was also a message for her professional partner Brandon Armstrong, saying she would ‘cherish’ their time dancing together.
‘I’m sorry you don’t get to make fun of my moves anymore while I share my life gems on how to be a grown up Love u so much lil bro, and will ALWAYS cherish the memories we made!!!’ she wrote.
The star has confirmed she will make her return to The Real this week, to join her co-hosts Garcelle Beauvais, Loni Love, and Adrienne Houghton.
