The real estate agent and her pro partner Gleb Savchenko landed in the bottom two against Disney star Skai Jackson and Alan Bersten.
The shock decision came despite both couples being considered fan favourites of the series, with both putting in some of their best performances to date in the competition this round.
Chrishell and Gleb performed a moving and sensual Vienesse Waltz to Love On The Brain by Rihanna, while Skai and Alan danced a Salsa to Work It by Missy Elliott.
Chrishell earned 24/30 for her routine, getting an extra two points later in the show as part of the show’s annual relay race – this year a Cha Cha relay.
During deliberations on who to send home, judge Carrie Ann Inaba said: ‘Chrishell, you’ve been growing slowly and steadily and I’m so proud of that. Every week, I see a little bit of growth.
‘But Skai, you’ve gone up and down and you’ve handled it like a boss, so Skai and Alan I’m saving you.’
Bruno Tonioli agreed but said that he ‘loved’ them both, with Derek Hough agreeing that, should his vote have counted, he would’ve also saved Skai and Alan.
As the eighth week of the competition came to a close, it was clear that there was still all to play for with the public’s votes becoming less predictable as stars continued to improve.
Skai, singer Nelly, ice skater Johnny Weir, Catfish’s Nev Shulman, Backstreet Boys’ AJ McLean, One Day At A Time’s Justina Machado and Kaitlyn Bristowe still remain in the competition.
This week was initially meant to be a double elimination, but just hours before the live show, Jeannie Mai was forced to pull out of the competition after being rushed to hospital.
It was then revealed that she had a throat condition called epiglottis, which is a small piece of cartilage that covers your windpipe, and can swell, blocking air flow and making it difficult to breathe.
‘I am heartbroken that my DWTS journey has to end here,’ she said in a statement. ‘The last several weeks have been an amazing learning experience.
‘I have pushed myself to new limits physically and mentally, and I am so proud of how far we’ve come.
‘I can’t thank my partner Brandon enough for being so supportive and believing in me. I also want to thank MAI fans who voted every week and I wish everyone else in the competition the best of luck!’
Dancing With The Stars airs Monday nights on ABC in the US.
