Doctor Who fans may be anticipating David Tennant’s comeback in the 60th anniversary specials, but it has been confirmed that he will appear in the role a week earlier.
Last year, it was revealed that the actor, who took over the role in 2005, and his co-star Catherine Tate had agreed to three special episodes to commemorate the show’s tenth anniversary.
Heartstopper’s Yasmin Finney as Donna Noble’s daughter, Rose Temple Noble, as well as Neil Patrick Harris as a terrifying new adversary and Miriam Margolyes as a lovely extraterrestrial creature, have all been touted as joining them.
This will all lead up to the next season, which will star Ncuti Gatwa as the next Doctor, along with new companion Ruby Sunday, portrayed by soap sensation Millie Gibson.
While the specials will begin on November 25, fans of Doctor Who will be able to see David in costume on November 17.
A special one-off Doctor Who sequence starring the fourteenth Doctor will air as part of the BBC’s Children in Need.
Soon after, there will be a behind-the-scenes look at how the scenario was created in an exclusive episode of Doctor Who: Unleashed, which will be accessible on BBC iPlayer.
The first of the Doctor Who 60th anniversary specials, The Star Beast, will be released as part of the Doctor Who: Unleashed series.
Following The Star Beast, the following specials will be titled Wild Blue Yonder, which will air on Saturday, December 2, and The Giggle, which will air on December 9.
After Jodie Whittaker hung up her sonic screwdriver as the Doctor, former Doctor Who showrunner Russell T Davies will take over the helm of the Tardis-shaped ship.
Doctor Who returns on Saturday 25th November on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
