Davina McCall set to host brand-new Channel 4 dating series The Language of Love

With so many dating shows floating about, it’s becoming hard to keep track, and looks like another series has been thrown into the mix, as Davina McCall is confirmed to host new dating show The Language of Love.

The Channel 4 show, which has been inspired by ITV’s Love Island, will take place in Andalusia – aka the birthplace of flamenco art- will see the 53-year-old presenter work alongside Spanish TV host, actor and singer Ricky Merino, who will be on hand to interpret how the couples’ relationships are developing.

The eight-part series will see a group of Brits and a group of Spaniards pairing up at a Spanish country estate to see if they can find romance… despite not speaking each other’s language.

Channel 4’s Phil Harris, Head of Entertainment and Events, comments: ‘This is a truly fresh and entertaining dating experiment that throws up surprising cultural exchanges, hilarious linguistic mishaps and red-hot holiday romances all overseen by the original queen of reality, Davina, and her wonderful Spanish counterpart, Ricky.’

Tom Thostrup, co-founder of 2LE Media adds: ‘In this series we want to give our international singles the ultimate holiday romance and see if they can hurdle the language barrier to build a potential life-changing relationship, with Davina and Ricky willing them to succeed all the way.’

A source told The Sun newspaper’s TV Biz column: ‘This will have the feel of both shows in many ways.

Similarly to Love Island, The Language of Love will also be filmed in Spain (Picture: ITV)

‘It’s shot inside a Spanish villa full of hot single people looking to hook up’

‘But the major difference is many of the contestants won’t be able to understand each other due to the language barrier, so it will be lust doing the talking.’

Producers have been on the lookout for British contestants to move into the Spanish villa with the love-hungry hopefuls.

The Language of Love will air in 2022 on Channel 4
