Denise Welch and Carol McGiffin have locked horns on Loose Women, while disagreeing on the conversation around Harry and Meghan compared to Prince Andrew.
The two daytime TV hosts were left shouting at one another today as they discussed Prince Andrew, as Denise got upset and claimed that Prince Harry has been ‘blamed for everything’ following his move to the United States.
The conversation had turned to the alleged £12million out-of-court settlement between Prince Andrew and Virginia Giuffre, after Giuffre accused the royal of sexually assaulting her when she was a teenager. He has consistently and vehemently denied the allegations.
Speaking on the show amid questions as to where the money will come from, Carol passionately said: ‘They’re the Royal Family, I just want them to be there. I don’t care actually what is going on with them.
‘They never apologise and they never explain so you don’t know where the money is coming from and you ask, do we have the right to know where the money is coming from?
‘Do we have a right to not want to know? Because I don’t care where it’s coming from – if it’s public money or if it’s any money, we don’t know.
‘It’s £12million’ – we don’t know that.’
She went on: ‘The point is we do not know. The speculation that surrounds the Royal Family is rife and they never tell you anything, so you don’t know.
‘You don’t know where the money’s coming from. You ask, “Do we have the right to ask where the money’s coming from?”‘
In response, Denise then asked Carol if she thought that Andrew should be stripped of his titles, but Carol hit back: ‘We still don’t know what happened’.
When Denise chimed in that ‘he went to visit Jeffrey Epstein’, Carol responded that ‘everyone’ went to visit Epstein, ‘every single celebrity almost’.
At that point, both women started to talk over one another, as viewers shared their thoughts online, seemingly split down the middle.
This isn’t the first time the two presenters have got into a debate on the flagship ITV prime-time show.
In January, Denise told Carol that she should ‘drink less’ while the panelists discussed whether they mind hangovers.
She explained how she thought her relationship with drink in the past was ‘very destructive’ and how she thought Carol should ‘drink less’.
Carol acknowledged that she ‘knows she drinks too much’, stating: ‘The government says I should only drink like 14 units a week, so it is more than that, but I don’t get terrible hangovers, I don’t get depressed.’
