Doctor Who: Daleks promise ‘maximum extermination’ in first look at their new armour

Doctor Who’s team couldn’t let the annual Dalek Day festivities go without a couple of surprises and teasers – with the brand new look of The Doctor’s arch nemeses being revealed to the world.

In Revolution Of The Daleks, the exterminating killer alien race is given somewhat of a rebrand, and brought to Earth as Defence Drones by the Prime Minister (Harriet Walter).

Revealing a first proper look at what they now look like, the slick armour of the Daleks was fully put on display – and like actor John Barrowman warned, it could spell disaster for everyone involved.

Alongside the photo was the foreboding warning: ‘Prepare for maximum extermination!’

As well as the photo was a clip, which acted like an advert for the Daleks and their new so-called use, showing close-ups of their shiny new armour.

‘Approved by world leading security experts and endorsed by the best security minds, we bring you the Defence Drones,’ it tells you.

‘Your future is in safe hands.’

The Doctor is getting the gang back together (Picture: BBC)

Revolution Of The Daleks is looking promising to be one of the most dramatic episodes yet, with the Doctor (Jodie Whittaker) locked away in a space prison without her team of companions.

Thankfully, Captain Jack (Barrowman) is back in action, catching up with Yaz (Mandip Gill), Graham (Bradley Walsh) and Ryan (Tosin Cole) back at home as they continue life without her.

But with the Daleks on the loose, they need their leading lady, and soon have to work to get her back to the Tardis, and Earth, where she belongs.

The episode will be bittersweet, as it will be Walsh and Cole’s final adventures around time and space, with both moving on before the new series.

Doctor Who: The Revolution Of The Daleks airs New Year’s Day on BBC One.
