Doctor Who fans are bracing themselves for another heartbreaking goodbye to David Tennant.
To commemorate the show’s 60th anniversary, three specials have shown ahead of the next complete season, which will premiere next year and star Ncuti Gatwa as the Time Lord.
David, who portrayed the iconic character’s tenth version for three seasons between 2005 and 2010, returned for the specials.
Former co-star Catherine Tate joined him as companion Donna Noble.
However, fans of the long-running series are already bracing themselves for emotional anguish ahead of the release of the third special, The Giggle.
On Thursday, the show’s official Instagram page tweeted a photo of David in his final appearance as the Tenth Doctor in 2010, and then of him regenerating again in this weekend’s episode.

Both depict him as emotional when he regenerates.
‘Here we go again… 🔥 #DoctorWho,’ it read.
Many followers, however, have stated that they are not ready to say goodbye just yet.
‘I’m not ready! Give me another six episodes of David and Catherine please,’ one viewer commented.
‘No. I’m still not over the last time he regenerated,’ someone else wrote.
Another added: ‘I’m not ready, he’s going to break my heart all over again.’
Meanwhile, another viewer issued an ultimatum to showrunner Russell T Davies.
‘If he says I’m ready to go this Saturday Russell mate you will need to pay for my therapy for the rest of my life,’ they shared.
Despite the imminent tragedy, some expressed enthusiasm for the new season.
‘I will miss David Tennant, but I’m really looking forward to Nucti Gatwa as the new Doctor. I’m looking forward to the era.’
While little is known about the last episode, it will star Neil Patrick Harris as the Toymaker, a threat from the Doctor’s distant past.
UNIT chief Kate Lethbridge Stewart (Jemma Redgrave), who will have her own spin-off, Charlie De Melo (Coronation Street) as Charles Banerjee, and Alexander Devrient (Ted Lasso) as Colonel Ibrahim will also feature.
It will also star John Mackay (The Hollow Crown) as John Logie Baird, a historical person who pioneered an early version of television.
The final Doctor Who special, The Giggle, airs on Saturday at 6.30pm on BBC One.
