Eamonn Holmes has revealed he’s set to be a grandfather as his son Declan and daughter-in-law Jenny are expecting a baby.
The This Morning host admitted he was left ’emotional’ by the news, with he announced with his wife Ruth Langsford on the show.
It hit him particularly hard after he’s had a tough week, suffering from awful chronic pain.
‘There’s not much good news around and I’ve been having a very tough week,’ the presenter explained.
Bringing up a picture of Declan and Jenny, he said: ‘These people are called Declan and Jenny – the clue is their surname is Holmes. Declan is my eldest boy…and that is Jenny, his beloved wife.
‘They have just announced that I, and together with Valerie and Robin, Jenny’s mum and dad, and Gabrielle, Declan’s mummy, we’re all going to be grandparents!’
‘Can you seriously believe that I would be a grandpa?’ he added. ‘[I’m] far too young!’
Eamonn, 61, is clearly thrilled by the news, with the star saying: ‘When they told me the news, I got very emotional by it,’ and adding that he was ‘in tears’ after being told.
He went on to reassure the parents-to-be that there’s ‘no obligation’ to name the little one Eamonn.

Meanwhile, Ruth is also clearly excited, with the presenter insisting that, while she may be known as the ‘wicked step-grandmother’, she’s still going to sneak the baby biscuits on the sly.
She sounds like a pro already!
Eamonn previously cheekily teased the news on Twitter, writing: ‘Can u keep a secret? Got something to tell u at 11 am on Wednesday’s #ThisMorning.
‘I hope you will be happy for me because I am over the Moon. It’s even, for the moment, made me forget my #ChronicPain – yes it’s that good.’
Declan is Eamonn’s son from his previous marriage with Gabrielle Holmes, which lasted from 1985 to 2005.
The pair also share their children Rebecca and Niall.

After splitting from Gabrielle, Eamonn married Ruth in 2010, and the couple share their son Jack.
Declan hasn’t yet shared the news on social media, but recently hinted at an exciting announcement on the horizon, writing on Instagram: ‘A year on and we certainly aren’t where we’d like to be but I know I have a lot to be grateful for and to be excited about. Let’s keep finding that reason to smile.’
Eamonn is particularly happy about the news, after he’s been suffering from awful chronic pain.
Late last week, Eamonn revealed he’d gone to see doctors to work out what was causing ‘pain like I’ve never experienced in my life’.
He added on This Morning: ‘So this chronic pain business, if you’ve been following my Twitter page, a month ago, I hurt my back, I didn’t really do anything, it got worse and worse and worse, and it turned into chronic pain.
‘And basically, from the point of view that I literally could not sleep at night – night time was the absolute worst.’
This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV.
