A guest on This Morning sent Eamonn Holmes into a panic after he accidentally sailed away from the camera in his tin boat during a live interview.
Retired army major Michael Stanley spoke with Eamonn and Ruth Langsford via video link on Tuesday’s Show from the Chichester Canal.
The 80-year-old told how he has taken inspiration from Captain Tom Moore, by attempting to row 100 miles in a homemade tin boat he has called the ‘Tintanic’.
At the beginning of the interview, Eamonn introduced Michael, and as he did, the pensioner started rowing away from the camera.
‘What are sailing conditions like this morning?’ Eamonn asked.
Ruth continued: ‘The Tintanic is absolutely fabulous, tell us when the idea came from.’
‘Major Mick, maybe you should come back a bit because you’re getting further and further away from us,’ Eamonn interrupted.
Michael, who is also known as Major Mick, said he built the vessel during the COVID-19 lockdown.
So far he has raised £17,000 for Saint Wilfrid’s Hospice.
Throughout the interview Michael didn’t stop rowing, and viewers were loving him for it.
Many also found it hilarious when he started rowing away from the camera.
Taking to Twitter one commented: ‘Where’s he going?’
Another tweeted: ‘He was sailing away from the cameras, bless him.’
While one added: ‘This old fella rowing away from the camera.’
