Eamonn Holmes has shared a heartfelt thank you video following his and Ruth Langsford’s final Friday shift on This Morning, stating: ‘We do feel the love.’
On Friday, Eamonn and Ruth hosted their final Friday slot on the ITV talk show before it is taken over by Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary in the new year.
Eamonn and Ruth will return to present during key holidays, with the pair set to come back to host in February.
After the programme came to an end yesterday, the married couple received numerous messages of support, including from Alison and TV presenter Rylan Clark-Neal.
On Saturday, Eamonn, 61, posted a video on Instagram expressing his thanks to all who have reached out to him and Ruth.
‘Just want to say something to you all from the bottom of my heart, and that is: thank you,’ he said in the video.
‘Ruth and I have been absolutely overwhelmed yesterday and today by the amount of messages and we’ve been replying on social media, by email, by text, by Whatsapp, whatever way we can.’
Eamonn said that he and Ruth, 60, ‘do feel the love’, saying that they ‘really appreciate’ the outpouring of support.
However, he then jokingly told his fans to ‘stop’ sending them so many messages.
‘It is Christmas time, mistletoe and wine, we’ve all got things to do. So thank you. Get on with your lives, we certainly intend to get on with ours,’ he stated.
Several people commented on Eamonn’s video with words of praise, including Towie star Georgia Kousoulou and former Blue singer Antony Costa.
‘You are both 2 of the nicest people I have ever met on tv, and you have always made me feel welcome on this morning & whenever I have seen you both,’ Georgia said, while Antony wrote: ‘Good luck to you and Ruth mate.’
During yesterday’s This Morning, Eamonn appeared to make a shady comment about how they were ‘getting rid of us’ on the show.
Nonetheless, he ended the programme by urging viewers to be ‘nice and lovely’ to his and Ruth’s successors Alison and Dermot, describing Alison as a ‘very close’ friend.
This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV.
