Ed Balls has slammed David Beckham’s fashion choices, encouraging the former professional player to “age with dignity.”
Victoria Beckham, 49, stated that she and her husband had opted to wear double denim on a date night.
This was not the first time they wore matching uniforms; in the late 1990s and early 2000s, they routinely wore similar ensembles, including their distinctive leather-look gladrags.
During a talk with Irish girl group B*Witched on Monday’s Good Morning Britain, co-hosts Ed, 56, and Ranvir Singh, 45, brought up the Beckhams’ new matching ensembles.
Unsurprisingly, the discussion arose in the midst of the recent Barbie-mania that has been sweeping the globe, which featured Ryan Gosling’s Ken donning the double denim style.
Before B*Witched’s performance at Margate Pride, Ed joked that supporters should come dressed in double denim, in line with the band’s 1990s roots.
However, the former congressman said that he believed males over the age of 50 should face a “age cut-off.”
He went on to say that David, 48,’shouldn’t’ have gone for double denim in his opinion.
‘You’ve got to age with dignity,’ he added.
It should be noted, though, that David is under Ed’s 50-year-old ‘cut-off,’ and later on during Good Morning Britain, the co-anchor ended up donning a denim jacket with Ranvir in a matched appearance.
Wear anything you want, in our view, if you’re comfortable and it’s not hurting others! It’s as simple as that.
David and Victoria were recently in Canada, with the former collaborating with none other than Elvis film actor Austin Butler to assist pull a tree off of the road that was impeding cars.
‘Did u ever think u would see Elvis and Beckham lifting a tree?? Helping the community in Muskoka. I’m impressed gentleman [sic],’ the Spice Girls star wrote in an Instagram post, where she shared a video of the teamwork.
One commenter wrote: ‘David Beckham and Austin Butler am I in heaven?’ while another said: ‘Can you imagine driving by and these guys holding up so you can drive under lol I’d stall my car on purpose.’
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV.
