A woman who encouraged her staff members to take a break when they needed to masturbate has released a documentary on self-pleasure.

Erika Lust hit headlines last year after it was revealed she offered her employees half-hour breaks for self-love and even set up a private ‘masturbation station’ at the office in Barcelona.

Now, she’s turned her attention to masturbation once again for a short documentary, Masturbation Conversations, and asks contributors the big questions, including ‘how do you masturbate?’ and ‘why do you masturbate’.

‘Masturbation Conversations shows people of different identities talking about their experience with masturbation in a positive, shame-free space,’ indie adult filmmaker Erika said.

The film sees several participants sharing their experiences of masturbation and some also explain just how they do it with the help of a large vulva-shaped cushion.

‘Masturbating can have many benefits, yet for some reason just saying the word out loud makes some people feel funny, or even embarrassed,’ Erika penned on social media.

‘The truth is masturbation can help people manage stress, regulate their sleep, and connect with their body and sexual desires, among other advantages.’

Talking about why they touch themselves, one participant admitted ‘mostly to sleep because it works very well’ while another said, ‘I’ll do it when I’m tired, hungover… dopamine, I’m all about that dopamine.’

The film was released on YouTube just last month and has a run-time of 20 minutes.

Since landing on the platform, Erika has been praised with one writing: ‘Great video, super informative thank you!’

‘Congratulations on the video,’ another added. ‘It has to be seen by all the women in this world.’

Last year, Erika said she hoped to ‘normalise’ masturbation by allowing her 36 members of staff a 30-minute break every day for some self-love.

‘I value my employees and I know that when they feel good, we do good work,’ she shared at the time.

‘With the pandemic and the huge shift in how we live our lives, I began to notice that my employees had become somewhat agitated and were performing with less energy than before.

‘So, knowing that there’s only one thing that will make everyone feel good, I’ve set up a private masturbation station for them to enjoy.’
