After posting a number of favourable evaluations of their services, Escape To The Chateau actors Dick and Angel Strawbridge appeared to make a veiled jab at show producers.
Following a probe into the couple’s behaviour, Channel 4 stated it will no longer cooperate with them.
Two Rivers Media, the production company for the property show, also said that they had discontinued their business connection with them.
Three former colleagues of Dick, 63, and Angel, 45, told Deadline that they fought with producers, and another said they were a ‘disaster to deal with.’
Although the pair has not yet replied to the charges, they appear to have responded in a different way by providing positive reviews about their venue and the programming.
‘The last episode of escape_to_the_chateau just aired in Australia. Been watching it for years from the very beginning. Not sure what to do with myself now,’ one comment read.
‘I’ll never get over this weekend. Just how we were treated by Dick and Angel, the staff, the location and of course the absolutely amazing Richard and Julie. We are on our way to the eurotunnel with very full hearts. (And grenadine and cinder courtesy of Angel)’ a second review read.
In 2021, sources from Escape To The Chateau’s former production company, Spark Media, claimed to The Times Dick and Angel were ‘abusive and bullying’ and had made filming an ‘an anxiety-inducing ordeal.’
At the time, the pair rejected the charges of harsh and bullying behaviours to the journal.
Escape To The Chateau debuted in 2016 and ended after nine seasons, with the last episode airing in December.
Dick and Angel stated it was their decision to leave the show back in October.
‘You know what, we wanted to go out on a high,’ Angel said, as Dick added to The Guardian: ‘Rather than someone asking us to stop!’
They continued at the time: ‘There’s still so much to do in the house, we could probably go on for a few more years, but every year we’ve said to each other, does it feel right to do another series?
‘Because it’s not a format as such, it’s our family life. With Arthur being 10 in January and Dorothy being nine next year, it was a natural time to stop.’
Escape to the Chateau is available to watch on Channel 4.
